Trailer Park Party

On July 21, 2007, Buccaneers from one side of the trailer park to the other gathered in Westlake for a party like no other. Folks came in all sorts of finery from their best housecoat to their best cutoff shorts. If you ask me, everyone seemed a little too comfortable in what they were wearing.

The hall was decorated beautifully, thanks to Eddie Langley and his decorating friends. Among the vinyl tablecloths and panties hung to dry, party-goers munched on pig, tater salad, beans, and very appetizing meat tray. Let's not forget the dollar store twinkies and sno balls for dessert.

The King and Queen of the Trailer Park, Craig and Karen LaRocca, were named and given honorary robes courtesy of the Hilton and Boardwalk Inn. The band, Ebenezer, kept us dancin' 'til the cows came home.

Three cheers to Eddie for a fantastic summer party! What does Eddie have in store for us in September? Well, you have to call your friend Bud and Sissy from Urban Cowboy for some dancing tips.

Dress Like A Pirate

Many of you have asked where some of the members have gotten their costumes and pirate accessories.

The Texas Renaissance Festival continues to be a great place to find unique items. The Internet is also becoming a great source for all things pirate.

Here are a few web sites that we have found that may help you.

- All Things Renaissance
- Excaliber Leather
- Dress Like A Pirate.com
- Billy Bone's Locker

As you know, the crowds (especially the children) love to see the pirates, so we encourage everyone to put their own personality into their pirate costume. You don't have to spend a lot of money, and the fun you get out of it is well worth it.

If anyone has other web sites that they would like to share, please send them our way and we will post them here.

There will be a link on the right sidebar that will include a continually updated list of sites.

Please send me any other sites that you have found.

Ahoy! Captain LaFitte

The 2007 Contraband Days Festival was a huge success for The Buccaneers of Lake Charles.

With Bob Peloquin at the helm as our Jean LaFitte, the festival was an event of friendship and of reaching out to the community and festival-goers.

Jean LaFitte and his band of pirates attended many raids leading up to the two-week celebration and they continue to be invited to community functions to spread the fun.

Jimmy Bastow, 2006/2007 President, presented his Buccaneer crew a perfect Jean LaFitte to celebrate the 50th year of Contraband Days. Bob represented the city and the Buccaneers well and has continued to honor his position as Jean LaFitte with respect and kindness.

Thank you, Bob. We are honored to serve under your reign as Jean LaFitte.
